Would recommend 100% - had an appointment with Michele today. What a lovely lady - very professional. Took time to make me feel at ease and also to explain the procedure as she went along. So lovely to be able to hear properly again!!! Wouldn't hesitate to go back if I have any problems with my ears in the future.

I highly recommend Michele at Happy Ears! She’s gentle and considerate, and genuinely cares for you and your ears. The clinic is a lovely relaxing environment, and Michele takes time to explain and discuss treatment options. Her prices are lower than most, and she’s definitely worth a visit if you need ear wax removal.

Earwax is a natural substance produced in the ear canal. It serves to protect and moisturise the ear, keeping out dust, germs and other irritants. In most cases, our ears are self-cleaning and the wax will naturally move from part way down the canal to the outside of your ear.
However, some people can suffer from excess earwax or it may get stuck in their ears. This can cause discomfort or reduced hearing and require removal. Happy Ears earwax removal service is a safe and effective way of dealing with these issues. The procedure involves using special instruments to gently remove any blockages or build-up of wax from the ear canal. This helps restore comfort and hearing levels back to normal.
Our ears are designed to be self-cleaning, so for many people there is no need to remove earwax through a procedure. However, for some people, earwax can cause problems such as muffled hearing, tinnitus, earache, itching or discomfort. It is important to make sure that any symptoms you have are caused by earwax and not an infection or other problem before seeking treatment. We solely provide an ear wax removal service so if you are unsure what may be causing discomfort or hearing difficulties it may be worth consulting a GP first. If they confirm that the issue is due to compacted or excessive ear wax be sure to book in an appointment as soon as possible.
The building up of earwax is a very common occurrence and whilst it will gradually build up it may reach a threshold that causes discomfort and a more noticeable loss of hearing.
Earwax build-up is a common problem that can cause discomfort and hearing loss. It occurs when the wax accumulates in the ear canal, blocking sound from entering the ear. There are several causes of earwax build-up, including narrow or damaged ear canals, excessive hair growth in the ear canal, skin conditions affecting the scalp or around the ears, and inflammation of the ear canal (otitis externa or “swimmer’s ear”).
People who commonly need ear wax removal include those with narrow canals or suffer from above average hair growth down the canal of the ear. Some ear issues leading to inflammation will increase the production and subsequent build up of wax too. A skin condition in the near vicinity to the ear can also affect things as can your genetic make up which simple means you produce more wax. People who use hearing aids or headphones regularly are highly likely to suffer from a build up of ear wax too
Ear wax can be a nuisance and have a big impact on your quality of life. It can cause feelings of being blocked, disorientation, tinnitus issues and even lead to severe ear infections. Fortunately, there are several effective ways to remove it such as microsuction and ear syringing, with microsuction being considered the safest and most preferred way to get rid of ear wax quickly and easily.
Using ear drops before your appointment is an important step in ensuring a successful wax removal. Ear drops are designed to soften the wax in your ear, making it easier for our audiology expert to remove during the procedure. We recommend using olive oil or almond oil ear drops at least twice a day (ideally three to four times) for up to five days prior to your appointment. Ear softening drops are readily available from most high street chemists but regular olive oil works well too.
Using ear drops before your appointment not only makes removal much easier and quicker, but also increases the chances of a successful ear microsuction. If we are unable to remove all the wax during the procedure, we will advise you on what to do next. It's important that you do try to follow our advice carefully in order to ensure that all of the wax can be removed safely and effectively.
At our clinic, we are experts in wax removal and have helped many people improve their lives by removing the wax that was causing them discomfort, so for ear wax removal services near me, please book in with Happy Ears.
Whilst it is not every person's cup of tea, we also have the option of providing you with the ability to look at your own ear canal. Our clinician will perform an initial examination of your ear for wax build-up with a standard otoscope and if this does reveal that there is a significant accumulation of wax, that means you would benefit from having the wax removed, we can set things up so that you could have a quick look for yourself...
Ear microsuction is a safe and effective way to remove earwax blockages. It involves the use of a gentle suction device, similar to a vacuum cleaner, which helps to loosen and remove any impacted earwax. The procedure is carried out by our trained professional who will assess your ear canal before beginning the process. Once your microsuction session is complete, we will use a Otoscope to check over your ears to ensure all impacted ear wax has been removed.
Ear irrigation is also commonly known as ear syringing and is a technique used to remove earwax from the ear canal. Most people are familiar with the technique, which used to be the most common method or removing ear wax until microsuction became available. It involves pushing water through the ear canal to flush out the wax. This method can be very successful in removing wax, however it can also have side effects and possible complications if NOT done correctly, which is why home DIY kits for this are not advisable and could result in ear infections or impacted earwax, which can cause further issues if not treated properly. In the hands of a professionally trained expert irrigation, rather than syringing, continues to be an effective treatment.
Yes - if done by professionally trained ear wax removal experts as found at Happy Ears. Attempting to remove ear wax using a DIY approach can be dangerous.
No. Although if you have already seen a GP and know for sure that the issue with your ear is a wax build-up then this will give you peace of mind when booking with us. If we identify that there is not a wax issue but an underlying ear problem unrelated to a wax blockage we will let you know and not perform any precedure.
Yes - If you have been advised to have your ear wax removed we recommend applying an olive oil spray to the affected ear or ears. This is available form most pharmacies to loosen the ear wax and should be applied for at least 2 days before your appointment, ideally 3-5 days, twice a day. This will minimise the need for a second appointment.
We DO NOT recommend the use of sodium bicarbonate ear drops.
This will depend on the position and nature of the wax build-up. If accessible, manual removal of ear wax is the safest method but often this option is not possible due to the position of the wax in the ear canal and the canal shape too. Microsuction is then the next safest option.
Just see our reviews. We provide a competitively priced ear wax removal service carried out by trained professionals. We always conduct an initial ear inspection before any treatment to ensure it is safe to carry out and have a selection of ear wax removal techniques to use - ensuring we are able to get the best results compared to other clinics, which may only offer one method of ear wax removal.
Not for at least 48 hours
